Georgian House Plan Features
Central Front Door
Named for Great Britain's King George and based on English design, Georgian architecture is highly symmetrical featuring multi-paned windows evenly balanced on each side of a central front door and chimneys at either end of the home.
Tasteful Elegance
Made of either wood or brick, these gracious two-two and a half story homes welcome visitors at a front door that often sports a carved pediment and sheltering portico. An elaborate staircase inside the spacious entrance hall leads to generously proportioned square or rectangular bedrooms. The centrally placed front entry captures the style's tasteful elegance. The paneled front doors, sometimes doubled, are flanked by columns or pilasters capturing the style's tasteful elegance while a transom window overhead completes the inviting look.
Moderately Pitched Roof
The moderately pitched roof of the Georgian home plan has little overhang and often includes gabled dormers. A forerunner to the Federal-Adam style home, Georgian style houses, provide a traditional template that is endlessly adaptable to modern lifestyles.
